How to choose the right John Guest fitting
Always measure the outside diameter of the tubing. John Guest fittings are in inch sizes, and the size refers to the tubing's outside diameter. A 3/8" tube has a 1/4" inside diameter, and a 5/16" tube has a 3/16" inside diameter.

Fitting, releasing and cleaning
Cut the tubing square with a tube cutter and push it in until it stops. To release it, press the collet in and pull the tubing out. The Collet Locking Tool makes releasing the fittings easier. Take care with Star San and other acid-based sanitisers, which can damage plastic, and rinse after use.

How do I release a John Guest fitting?
Press the collet towards the fitting and pull the tubing out at the same time. If the line is under pressure, shut off the gas and release the pressure first.
Are John Guest and DMfit compatible?
Yes, in the same inch sizes. Keg King, for example, states that the DMfit fittings in the KegMaster kegerator are compatible with John Guest.
Can I use Star San on John Guest fittings?
Acid-based products can damage the plastic over time. Rinse the fittings with clean water after sanitising, and do not leave the solution standing in the lines.
