Description
Starter kit for pressure fermentation in kegs – spunding valve, floating dip tube and CO2 dip tube
A simple and affordable kit for pressure fermentation in Cornelius kegs. The kit contains the original Spundy Compact Spunding Valve, an adjustable spunding valve for pressure fermentation, and a floating dip tube with silicone hose, so the beer is drawn from the top of the keg. It also includes CO2 dip tubes for both standard 9–20 L Cornelius kegs and 23 L AEB kegs.
AEB CO2 dip tubes are not always compatible with Chinese-made kegs, such as Kegland.
Contents
- Spundy Compact Spunding Valve (adjustable spunding valve)
- Floating dip tube with silicone hose
- CO2 dip tube for 9–20 L Cornelius kegs
- CO2 dip tube for 23 L AEB kegs
How to use the kit
Set the Spundy to the desired pressure for fermentation. After fermentation, you can either serve directly from the keg via the floating dip tube, which sits on top of the beer, or transfer clear beer from the top of the keg to a new keg. The latter is recommended, as the beer can develop off-flavours if it sits on dead yeast for too long.
Frequently asked questions about pressure fermentation in kegs
What pressure should I ferment at?
A common pressure is 0.7–1 bar. Ferment the first couple of days without pressure before setting the spunding valve.
How full can I fill the keg?
Leave 15–20 % headspace at the top of the keg during fermentation.
Why a floating dip tube?
The floating dip tube draws beer from the top of the keg, where it is clearest, rather than from the bottom where the yeast settles.
Does the kit fit Kegland kegs?
AEB CO2 dip tubes are not always compatible with Chinese-made kegs, such as Kegland. The Spundy and floating dip tube can still be used.
