Description
Spundy Compact Spunding Valve – adjustable pressure relief from Keg King
When fermenting under pressure or transferring under pressure between tanks and kegs, you need pressure relief you can trust: accurate, responsive and easy to keep clean. The original Spundy Compact Spunding Valve is designed by Keg King in Australia. It is ready to use straight out of the box, and everything is integrated into one unit, which means fewer connections that can leak.
Features
- Connects to the ball lock gas post on a Cornelius keg or unitank, for example Fermenter King, Apollo or FermZilla, just like a normal grey ball lock disconnect
- Built-in gauge showing the pressure (0–2 bar) while you adjust
- The gauge unscrews for easy cleaning
- Low profile, only 4.5 cm tall, so it fits in fermentation chambers and fridges with limited height
How to use the Spundy
Connect the Spundy to the gas post and set the desired pressure while watching the gauge. When the pressure in the tank rises above the set point, the valve releases the excess. For pressure fermentation, 0.7–1 bar is recommended. It is a good idea to let the first couple of days of fermentation run without pressure, and to leave 15–20% headspace in the tank.
Frequently asked questions about the Spundy spunding valve
What pressure should I ferment at?
For pressure fermentation, 0.7–1 bar is recommended. The pressure suppresses ester formation, so you can ferment lager warmer and retain hop aroma.
What can I connect the Spundy to?
The Spundy fits the ball lock gas post on Cornelius kegs and unitanks, such as Fermenter King, Apollo and FermZilla.
How do I clean the Spundy?
The gauge unscrews, making the valve easy to clean and sanitize.
Will the Spundy fit in a fermentation chamber?
Yes. The valve is only 4.5 cm tall and fits well in fermentation chambers and fridges with little headroom.
