Description
SPUNDit 3.0 Jellyfish – spunding valve for pressure fermentation
The SPUNDit 3.0 Jellyfish from Homebrewer LAB is a spunding valve that holds the pressure in your fermenter at a set level during fermentation and carbonation. It is an upgraded version of the popular SPUNDit 2.0, with a CNC-machined, transparent design. When the pressure reaches the set level, the valve releases CO2, which you can see as bubbles in the included FERMonitor. It is a handy indicator that fermentation is active.
The SPUNDit 3.0 suits pressure fermenters such as Apollo, Fermenter King and FermZilla.
Features
- Extra port, so you can pressure-ferment two fermenters at the same time
- Colour-coded pressure presets for easy use
- Compact and transparent, easy to monitor and clean
- Silicone O-rings for easy sealing and maintenance
- Taken apart and reassembled with an ordinary Phillips screwdriver
- Handmade in California and supplied with spare parts
Frequently asked questions about SPUNDit 3.0 Jellyfish
What does a spunding valve do?
It lets CO2 from fermentation build pressure in the tank and releases the excess once the pressure passes the set level. This lets the beer carbonate naturally during fermentation.
What pressure should I ferment at?
A typical pressure for pressure fermentation is 0.7–1 bar. Ferment the first couple of days without pressure, and leave 15–20% headspace in the tank. Pressure suppresses esters, so a lager, for example, can be fermented warmer.
Can I use it on two tanks?
Yes. The SPUNDit 3.0 has an extra port that lets you pressure-ferment two fermenters at the same time.
