Description

Quantor MiniChilly 03 SB Compatible – glycol chiller for homebrewers

The MiniChilly 03 SB Compatible is a glycol chiller that Quantor developed specially for Brewshop, for homebrewers making beer, cider and wine. Quantor is a German manufacturer of professional cooling units used by breweries around the world. The chiller has a cooling capacity of 260 W.

Important: The glycol chiller must stand still for 24 hours before use. Read more under «Before you start the chiller».

Cooling capacity

The glycol chiller has the capacity to control the temperature of up to 4 tanks of 50 L, with one of the tanks on cold crash at any time. Alternatively it handles 2 tanks of 75 L, with one of them on cold crash.

How SB Compatible works

SB stands for «submersible». The chiller is made for submersible pumps and temperature controllers, for example our Temp Control Pump Kit. It is suitable for controlling the temperature of tanks from Brewtools and Speidel, among others, and of the Fermzilla with a Temp Twister cooling coil.

With the Grainfather Cooling Pump Kit you can also use the chiller to control the temperature of the Grainfather Conical Fermenter Pro.

The unit comes with 3/8" hose barbs for connecting up to 4 submersible pumps, which can run at the same time to cool several tanks.

The glycol chiller can cool down to −6°C with a 30% glycol mix. The best cooling effect is at −2°C.

How to fill the cooling water

The water tank holds 6.3 litres. Fill cooling water into the tank and start the pump so that the system for one tank fills up. Only top up the water tank if needed, for example if the cooling jacket and hoses take more than 6.3 litres of water. Repeat for each tank until the whole system is filled and ready. If you need to top up, we recommend placing the glycol chiller higher than the cooling water inlet and outlet on the fermenter. This prevents the water from running back and overflowing the chiller tank when the pumps are not running.

Product information

Before you start the chiller

The glycol chiller must stand still for 24 hours before use. During shipping, oil can run up into the compressor, and it needs time to run back down before you start the chiller. If you start the chiller before 24 hours have passed, it can be damaged, and the warranty does not apply because it counts as user error.

This is especially important for the MiniChilly 03 SB. It is small, compact and light, so it can be shipped as an ordinary parcel, unlike other chillers that must be shipped on a pallet. There is no guarantee that the parcel stays upright during the whole journey, even if it is marked «This Side Up».
