Quantor IceChilly 45 Ice Bank and Glycol Chiller 4.4 kW (Order Item)

QuantorSKU: 10315432394850

The IceChilly 45 is the most powerful ice bank and glycol chiller in Quantor's IceChilly range, with a cooling capacity of 4.4 kW. An ice bank of approx. 100 kg stores cooling energy for cold crash and peak loads, and with glycol it cools down to -6 °C. Stainless steel, built-in pump and two cooling circuits.

Description

Quantor IceChilly 45 – ice bank and glycol chiller 4.4 kW

The IceChilly 45 is the most powerful model in Quantor's IceChilly range – a compact stainless steel cooling unit for microbreweries, cideries and smaller wineries that need stable cooling of several fermentation and storage tanks. The unit has a built-in water tank and a submersible pump with stirrer, and connects directly to the cooling jackets of the tanks.

What sets the IceChilly apart from a regular glycol chiller is the ice bank. When the cooling water is kept at 0 °C, ice builds up around the evaporator tubes in the water tank. The ice stores cooling energy that is released when demand peaks – for example during cold crash or rapid cooling – keeping the temperature stable for longer than the compressor can manage on its own. The IceChilly 45 builds an ice bank of approx. 100 kg. With 30–35% glycol in the cooling water, it cools down to -6 °C (no ice bank is built in this mode).

Benefits

  • Highest cooling capacity in the range: 4.4 kW at 15 °C water temperature
  • Ice bank of approx. 100 kg at 0 °C provides extra, stored cooling capacity at peak load
  • Cooling water temperature from -6 °C to +30 °C (glycol required below 0 °C)
  • Two separate cooling circuits for increased operational safety
  • Complete cooling water circuit with water tank and submersible pump with stirrer (1.5 m³/h at 1.7 bar)
  • Stainless steel evaporator and housing, all water-carrying parts insulated
  • Environmentally friendly refrigerant R290 (low GWP)
  • Thermostatic control

Applications

  • Cooling of beer, must, wine, cider and mead during fermentation and storage
  • Cold crash and rapid cooling of fermentation tanks and BBTs
  • Cooling of must or wine for pre-clarification and tartrate stabilisation
  • Cooling of rooms and storage areas – with additional fan coils
  • Direct cooling of liquids with a stainless steel cooling coil (option)

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an ice bank chiller and a regular glycol chiller?
A regular glycol chiller only delivers what the compressor can manage at that moment. The IceChilly also builds up an ice bank at 0 °C that acts as a cooling battery, providing extra capacity when several tanks need cooling at the same time, for example during cold crash.

Do I need to use glycol?
No, not at a cooling water temperature of 0 °C or higher – then plain water is used and the ice bank builds up. If the cooling water needs to go below 0 °C, 30–35% glycol must be added. No ice bank is built in that case.

Which size do I need?
It depends on tank volume, number of tanks and how many tanks will be cold crashing at the same time. Get in touch and we will help you choose the right model.
