Quantor IceChilly 25 – ice bank and glycol chiller 2.35 kW
The IceChilly 25 is a compact stainless steel cooling unit from German manufacturer Quantor, designed for microbreweries, advanced homebrewers, cideries and smaller wineries that need stable cooling of fermentation and storage tanks. The unit has a built-in water tank and a submersible pump with stirrer, and connects directly to the cooling jackets of the tanks.
What sets the IceChilly apart from a regular glycol chiller is the ice bank. When the cooling water is kept at 0 °C, ice builds up around the evaporator tubes in the water tank. The ice stores cooling energy that is released when demand peaks – for example during cold crash or rapid cooling – keeping the temperature stable for longer than the compressor can manage on its own. With 30–35% glycol in the cooling water, the IceChilly cools down to -6 °C (no ice bank is built in this mode).

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an ice bank chiller and a regular glycol chiller?
A regular glycol chiller only delivers what the compressor can manage at that moment. The IceChilly also builds up an ice bank at 0 °C that acts as a cooling battery, providing extra capacity when several tanks need cooling at the same time, for example during cold crash.
Do I need to use glycol?
No, not at a cooling water temperature of 0 °C or higher – then plain water is used and the ice bank builds up. If the cooling water needs to go below 0 °C, 30–35% glycol must be added. No ice bank is built in that case.
Which size do I need?
