Description

Protafloc kettle finings for beer – 20 tablets (50 g)

Protafloc tablets from Murphy & Son are a granulated carrageenan product, similar to Whirlfloc, added to the wort in the kettle. Carrageenan is derived from seaweed and enhances protein precipitation as the wort cools. The result is clearer wort and clearer beer, without affecting head retention. The tub contains 20 tablets of 2.5 grams.

Features

  • Improved trub compaction
  • Increased yield
  • Brighter, cleaner wort
  • Longer beer shelf life
  • Suitable for both breweries and homebrewers

How to use Protafloc

Add Protafloc during the last 10 minutes of the boil. If added too early, the active ingredient can break down. For breweries, 1/2 to 2 tablets per hectolitre are recommended, with optimal use at 1–5 g/hl. The recommended dosage for homebrewers is 1/5 to 1/2 tablet per 25 litres.

Note: Using more than the recommended dosage can have the opposite effect and result in hazy beer.

Tip: For crystal-clear beer, you can add Protafloc together with Polyclar Brewbrite. The two fining agents complement each other.
