Monster Mill MM3-Pro HT – three-roller grain mill with hardened rollers, base and hopper

The Monster Mill MM3-Pro HT is the largest three-roller mill from Monster Brewing Hardware, supplied complete with base, hopper, feeler gauge and oil. It is a major upgrade of the MM-3 and is made for microbreweries, homebrew shops and demanding homebrewers.

The Pro model has 2" (5.1 cm) diameter rollers in heat-treated 1144 alloy steel, which is harder than ordinary steel and also induction hardened for a long service life. The drive shaft is 1/2", and the shafts are integral to the rollers instead of being screwed into the ends. The mill can therefore be driven clockwise or anticlockwise.

How the MM3-Pro HT crushes

The mill is driven by a powerful electric drill and crushes the grain twice in one pass. Between the first two rollers the grain is lightly flattened, before it is crushed between the drive roller and the third, lower roller. The starch is released while the husk is kept as intact as possible. The roller gap is steplessly adjustable to the crush you want.

What is the advantage of three rollers?

The grain is crushed twice in one pass. It is first lightly flattened and then crushed. This releases the starch and keeps the husk more intact, which helps the mash filter well.
