Description
Huell Melon hop pellets – German aroma hop with melon and strawberry
Huell Melon is a German aroma hop with a fruity profile not usually associated with hops: honeydew melon and strawberry. The variety was bred in Hüll in Germany, is a daughter of Cascade and was released in 2012. It is mainly used late in the boil, in the whirlpool and for dry hopping, where the aroma comes through best. The pack contains 100 g of pellets, and the alpha acid for the lot you receive is stated in the product title.

Storage
The hops are vacuum-packed and stored in a freezer room at −18 °C, and the quality keeps well for several years. We prioritise hops from the last two harvests, but older hops can be just as good when they have been stored correctly. Once the pack is opened, seal it airtight and put it in the freezer. Frequently asked questions about Huell Melon
What does Huell Melon taste like?
Huell Melon gives distinct melon and wild strawberry, with hints of peach tea and creamy notes. On top of that come herbal and floral notes of lemon balm, aniseed, lavender and geranium.
When in the brew should I use Huell Melon?
It is an aroma hop, so it works best late in the boil, in a hop stand or whirlpool at 70–90 °C for 10–30 minutes, or for dry hopping. Dry hopping is usually done around day 7–9 of fermentation.
What alpha acid does Huell Melon have?
The alpha acid for the lot you receive is stated in the product title. BarthHaas gives a typical range of 4.9–9.5% for the variety, so always use the figure on the pack when calculating IBU.
How do I store opened hops?
Seal the pack airtight, ideally under vacuum, and put it in the freezer. That way the aroma keeps for a long time.
