Description

50L Kegmenter from Keg King – fermenter and keg in stainless steel

The 50L Kegmenter from Keg King in Australia is a combined fermenter and keg in stainless steel. It is designed like a commercial beer keg with a dip tube, but has a large 10 cm Tri-Clamp opening at the top, so you can easily reach inside for cleaning. The Kegmenter can be pressurised up to 3.5 bar (pressure tested at 5 bar). You can therefore ferment under pressure, force carbonate and serve from it, or use it as a bright tank and storage tank.

Features

  • Stainless steel lid with ball lock posts for CO2 and beer, pressure relief valve and dip tube
  • Large 10 cm Tri-Clamp opening for easy cleaning
  • Can be pressurised up to 3.5 bar, pressure tested at 5 bar
  • Can be stacked up to 4 high

How to use the Kegmenter

To ferment under pressure, you need a spunding valve (adjustable pressure relief valve). If you only want to force carbonate with CO2 from a cylinder, you do not need a spunding valve; just set the pressure on your CO2 regulator. The Kegmenter comes with an internal dip tube, and we recommend fitting a floating dip tube if you ferment in it, so you draw clear beer from the top rather than yeast sediment from the bottom.

Frequently asked questions about the 50L Kegmenter

What pressure should I ferment at?

A common pressure for pressure fermentation is 0.7–1 bar. Ferment the first couple of days without pressure, and leave 15–20% headspace in the tank.

Do I need a spunding valve?

Only if you want to ferment under pressure. For force carbonation with CO2 alone, the CO2 regulator is enough.

Why is a floating dip tube recommended?

The fixed dip tube draws beer from the bottom, where the yeast settles. A floating dip tube draws clear beer from the top.

Can I serve directly from the Kegmenter?

Yes. The lid has ball lock posts for CO2 and beer, so you can connect gas and a tap just as on an ordinary keg.
