Description
Norcal Yeast Brink with 2" sight glass – harvest and pitch yeast without oxygen
The Yeast Brink from Norcal Brewing Solutions mounts on the bottom of a conical fermenter with a 1.5" Tri-Clamp. It has a 2" Tri-Clamp sight glass and a built-in exhaust port, so you can harvest, add and transfer yeast without exposing the beer to oxygen. The sight glass withstands much higher pressure than a canning jar, and you can always see what you are collecting.
What you can do with the Yeast Brink
- Harvest, add and remove yeast from the bottom of a conical fermenter
- Transfer harvested yeast from one tank to another
- Add and remove hops from the bottom of the tank
- Force carbonate beer inside the fermenter
- Oxygenate wort in the fermenter before pitching yeast
Tip: if you want to use the Yeast Brink to add hops, the internal tube (downcomer) should be shortened by 0.5–1 cm to give the hops better clearance.

Frequently asked questions about the Yeast Brink
What is not included?
The gasket and clamp for the 1.5" Tri-Clamp tank connection are not included, and neither is the ball lock connector for the exhaust port. The port accepts any standard barbed or flared ball lock gas connector.
How much does the sight glass hold?
The sight glass has an internal volume of 311 ml.
Can I use the Yeast Brink for dry hopping?
Yes. Put pellet hops in the sight glass, dissolve them with a little beer from the tank and push the hops back into the tank. For this, the downcomer should be shortened by 0.5–1 cm.
Why does the exhaust port matter?
Air in the sight glass can escape while yeast or beer flows in. This disturbs the tank contents as little as possible and keeps oxygen out of the beer.
