Bürker counting chamber – haemocytometer for counting yeast cells
A Bürker-type glass counting chamber (haemocytometer) made by Marienfeld. It is used with a microscope to count yeast cells, for example when you want to work out how much yeast is in a starter or in harvested yeast. The chamber has a depth of 0.1 mm and two sets of grids, and it comes with two cover glasses.
The grids are engraved on two ground and polished surfaces on the central bar. The central bar sits between two raised edges, which are also ground and polished.
