A straight 40 x 8 mm magnet (stir bar) for magnetic stirrers, for example when you make a yeast starter in an Erlenmeyer flask. The magnet has a strong Alnico V core and a PTFE coating. The smooth surface and rounded ends give good stirring, even at low speeds.

Is 40 mm big enough for my yeast starter?
A 40 x 8 mm stir bar is enough for typical homebrew yeast starters. For larger flasks and starters, a longer stir bar can give better stirring.
How do I know the starter is stirred enough?
When the stir bar forms a vortex with a dimple in the surface, the starter is well mixed and takes in air.
Can the magnet be boiled or sanitised?
Yes. The PTFE coating withstands both high temperatures and chemicals, so the magnet can be boiled with the starter or sanitised.
