Frequently asked questions about the Fall of the Wall Oktoberfest all-grain kit
What kind of beer is Fall of the Wall?
A pale, easy-drinking bottom-fermented festival beer in Oktoberfest style with five malts. It has an OG of 1.054 and finishes at approx. 5.4% ABV.
What temperature should it ferment at?
The recipe calls for 14 days at 12–16 °C. That is cooler than normal room temperature, so you need a fridge or fermentation chamber with a temperature controller.
What is the difference between Oktoberfest and Märzen?
Märzen is the traditional beer of Oktoberfest in Munich, with a clear malt character and moderate bitterness. Many use the names interchangeably. Read more in our blog article on Märzen Lager.
Why is the malt uncrushed?
Once crushed, malt starts to oxidise and lose flavour and aroma. Brewshop therefore stores malt uncrushed and only crushes it when you choose crushed malt at checkout. With your own grain mill you crush the malt just before brewing.
