Frequently asked questions about the 250 ml Erlenmeyer flask
Do I need to rehydrate dry yeast?
It is somewhat debated, but dry yeast benefits from rehydration. A 250 ml flask is handy for this.
Why borosilicate glass?
Borosilicate glass handles high temperatures and rapid temperature changes well, and it is resistant to chemicals.
Is 250 ml enough for a yeast starter?
No, 250 ml is best for rehydration and small samples. For yeast starters you need a larger flask, such as 2000 ml, because the flask needs headspace above the starter.
