Description

Brew Monk Mash and Sparge Water Manifold – even water distribution over the grain bed

The Brew Monk Mash and Sparge Water Manifold is an accessory for homebrewers who want more control over mashing and sparging. The manifold spreads the water evenly and gently over the grain bed, which gives better sugar extraction and a more efficient brewing process.

During sparging it gives a steady, controlled flow, so the sparge water is spread over the whole grain bed. This can give better yield and more predictable results.

The manifold has a diameter of 28.5 cm and an opening in the bottom, so it fits over the overflow pipe in Brew Monk brewing kettles. The integrated recess gives a stable fit. The standard 13 mm hose barb fits Brew Monk silicone hoses and other hoses with an inner diameter of 10–11 mm.

The manifold is made of stainless steel, which is hygienic, durable and easy to clean. It is made for use with the Brew Monk sparge water heater with pump.

Frequently asked questions about the Brew Monk Mash and Sparge Water Manifold

Why should the sparge water be spread evenly?

When the water is spread over the whole grain bed, the sugar is rinsed out evenly and you avoid channels where the water runs straight through. Add a little at a time and keep no more than a couple of cm of water above the grain bed.

What temperature should the sparge water be?

We recommend sparge water at 75–78 °C. Do not go above 80 °C, as this can extract tannins from the grain husks.

Which hoses fit?

The hose barb is 13 mm and fits Brew Monk silicone hoses and other hoses with a 10–11 mm inner diameter.
