Description
Aphrometer 0–10 bar – pressure gauge for bottles
An aphrometer is a pressure gauge that screws onto the crown cap of a bottle, so you can follow the pressure inside the bottle during bottle conditioning and maturation of beer, cider, wine or kombucha. This aphrometer from BacBrewing has a 0–10 bar scale and is used on bottles with 26 or 29 mm crown caps. You need a dedicated cap with an insert for the aphrometer, sold separately.
The aphrometer has a vent screw. If the pressure gets too high, you can loosen it slightly and lower the pressure without removing the aphrometer. This adds protection against bottle bursts.
How to use the aphrometer
- Cap the bottle with a 26 or 29 mm aphrometer cap using an ordinary capper.
- Screw the aphrometer into the cap until the O-ring touches the cap.
- Tighten a further half turn with a 14 mm spanner. Do not use the gauge case to tighten.

Frequently asked questions about the aphrometer
Are the caps included?
No. You need a 26 or 29 mm cap with an insert for the aphrometer. They are sold separately.
Should I choose 0–10 bar or 0–4 bar?
The aphrometer is available with both scales. The 0–10 bar version suits bottles with very high pressure, while 0–4 bar gives a more precise reading at lower pressures.
What do I do if the pressure gets too high?
Loosen the vent screw slightly. This releases pressure without removing the aphrometer.
