A sample valve makes it easy to draw small samples of beer, wine or cider during fermentation without opening the tank. The valve has a 1.5" Tri-Clamp connection and fits any free Tri-Clamp port on the fermenter. It is made from high-quality 304 stainless steel and fits a pigtail for sampling.

What is a sample valve used for?
You draw a small sample to measure gravity with a hydrometer or to taste the beer along the way. The tank stays closed, so the risk of oxygen pickup and infection is lower than when you open the lid.
Do I need a clamp and gasket?
Yes. A Tri-Clamp connection consists of two ferrules, a gasket between them and a clamp around them. The 1.5" clamp and gasket are sold separately.
Can I fit a pigtail to the valve?
Yes, the valve fits a pigtail. A pigtail is a coiled spout that can be sanitized with a flame or an acid-based sanitizer before sampling.
