Description
Oxygenation stone 0.5 micron with 1/4" barb
Oxygenation stone in 304 stainless steel for adding pure oxygen to the wort before pitching the yeast. The 0.5 micron pores produce very small bubbles, so the oxygen dissolves well in the wort. Enough oxygen gives the yeast a good start and is especially important for high OG, lagers and large batches. The stone is recommended for use with pure oxygen.
Technical data
- Pore size: 0.5 micron
- Material: 304 stainless steel
- Barb: 1/4" outer diameter
- Fits LLDPE tubing with a 3/8" outer diameter
How to clean the oxygenation stone
- Rinse the stone thoroughly in hot water right after use to remove wort and yeast residue.
- Soak it in a suitable brewery cleaner, such as PBW, mixed according to the manufacturer's instructions, for 20–30 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly in hot water.
- Before use, place the stone in Star San or another sanitizer for at least 5 minutes.
- If the stone is heavily clogged, you can boil it in water for 10–15 minutes or soak it in a mild phosphoric acid solution.
- Let the stone dry completely and store it clean and dry. Avoid touching the surface with your fingers, as skin oils can clog the pores.

How long should I oxygenate the wort?
Brewshop's rule of thumb for 25 litres is 1 litre of oxygen per minute for 80 seconds for ales up to OG 1.060, and for 160 seconds for stronger ales and lagers.
What pressure should I use?
Use an oxygen regulator and a pressure of 0.5–1 bar.
When should I oxygenate?
Only before pitching the yeast. Never add oxygen after fermentation has started.
Which tubing fits?
The barb has a 1/4" outer diameter and fits LLDPE tubing with a 3/8" outer diameter.
